Just to confirm that there will be no karate class on Wednesday 30th Nov due to industrial action. Classes return to normal on 5th and 7th December
23/10/11 COMPETITION SUCCESS
On Sunday 23rd October the SKU played host to competitors from all styles of karate to compete for the title of Britsh Open karate champion. There were 450 competitors taking part during the day with a very high standard shown by all. The cream of the crop were very much in attendance. Northwich Shukokai fielded a team of 6 competitors of all ages from 8th kyu yellow through to 1st Kyu Brown.
Northwich Shukokai had a very successful day coming home with 5 Golds and 2 Silvers.
" Congratulations to everyone who took part from Northwich Shukokai. You did the club and me very proud, but more importantly you did yourselves proud. This is the hardest of the competitions all year and to compete is an achievement, let alone get a medal. A superb day. We competed and beat the long established clubs Nationally. Northwich karate is a force to be reckoned with!"

29/09/11 - Sensei Dave Warburton 8th Dan
Im sad to report the passing of my Instructor and friend Sensei Dave Warburton. I have trained with Sensei Dave at Koshido Ryu Sandbach since the Age of 7. Sensei Dave was the definition of Karate. His dedication and love of the art and sport had no boundaries. His technical skill in karate was the definition of Shukokai, and as one of the founding members of the Shukokai Karate Union training under Sensei Kimura he was and will always be very highly respected in the karate world. On a personal level I have lost a very influential person, Sensei Dave has had a massive bearing on my life, taking me under his wing as an assistant instructor at the age of 12 and training me in the way that karate should be done and the way it should be taught. As a role model what he has taught me has given me this skills to be a success in my personal life as a professional teacher. I will continue to run the club and instruct the way he taught me as the talent he has produced over the 40 plus years should be envied by any instructor in the UK. As a mark of respect the SKU instructors course fell silent at 11am in memory of this great karateka. He will be sadly missed and my love goes to his family Di, Shelley and Leanne. All the current instructors at Northwich Shukokai, and Koshido Ryu who trained under him will ensure his values live on. I just hope that the big fella upstairs had been practicing his katas before Dave got there!
