Q. At what age do you take children ?
A. Normally take children from the age of six.
Q. Do you have to be physically fit ?
A. Whilst it helps to have a basic level of fitness the syllabus is designed to gradually increase fitness and flexibility during your training.
Q. Is there a maximum age ?
A. No, there is no maximum age, we have had many students who do not take karate up until they are 40's and 50's who have still gone on to achieve black belt level.
Q. How often should I train ?
A. It is recommended that you train twice a week.
Q. How long does it take between gradings ?
A. Training twice a week, it is normally takes 3 to 4 months between gradings (which increases to six months for more senior grades) but it can take longer depending on ability.
Q. Can I train with my child?
A. Yes we manage our classes so that Parents and Children can train in the same room
Q. Can I come to watch ?
A. Everybody is welcome to come and watch a training session and is encouraged to speak to one of the instructors at any time.
Q. How much does it cost ?
A. Lessons are around £6 and the first lesson is free. Monthly payment is availiable. Annual club membership is £15. There is no "notice period" if you wish to stop training. A karate license is required prior to the first grading can be applied for through the club and costs approx £22
Q. Do I need any special clothes ?
A. We recommend just wearing a light loose track suit for the first few lessons until you are sure karate is for you. A "Gi" (karate suit) can be purchased from the club from around £16.
